Dementia Services and Health Outcomes during Transitions

Who are we looking for?
People who are over 65 years of age; have received a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, vascular or mixed dementia; not living in a nursing home; and their involved primary caregiver.

What’s involved in this research?

•    We will call you briefly every month to see how you are doing.
•    We will meet with you either at your home or hospital clinic every 6 months for 2.5 years.  There are some questionnaires that need to be filled out by both the patient and caregiver, which take about 1 hour.

National Research Program

The Alzheimer Society Research Program is a local effort between the Alzheimer Society of Canada, its provincial and local affiliates, partners, and donors. The program provides Research Grants and Training Awards to support Canadian investigators conducting:

  • biomedical research into causes and a cure for Alzheimer's disease,

  • research into social and psychological aspects of Alzheimer's disease, including caregiving, family support and long-term care.

The Alzheimer Society of Canada's Research Program is committed to promoting excellence in Alzheimer's research and supporting projects that will significantly advance scientific and clinical knowledge. Alzheimer Canada-sponsored researchers have shed light on critical aspects of Alzheimer's cisease and include some of the top Alzheimer scientists nationally and internationally. The Training Awards Program provides outstanding individuals with the opportunity to continue research training in Alzheimer's disease.
