We sincerely thank Encana, RBC Foundation and Devon Canada for their support in the development of Empowered Care Online. This is the Alzheimer Society of Calgary's second e-Learning module. This nine hour course will assist care partners in providing excellent care for the person with dementia as well as themselves.
Information will be provided about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, grief, self- care, and building resiliency into your story. The information comes alive throughout the workshop through stories from the perspective of care partners and the person with dementia.
We will introduce strategies for communication, exploring and responding to changes in behaviors, and creating a resiliency plan. We will focus on a PROACTIVE approach to dementia care, with the goal of building resiliency and enhancing the areas that people are able to control within their story.
