Other Ways to Donate

A  Win/Win for Donors and Charities

Securities are transferable certificates of ownership of investment products such as notes, bonds, stocks, futures contracts and options.

If you own products like these - in small or large amounts - and choose to donate one or more to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary, you will receive a tax receipt that reflects the fair market value of the gift at the time it was transferred. You will not have to pay a capital gains tax on the amount the security appreciated between the time you got it and the time you donated it. The full measure of the gift can be enjoyed by the giver as well as the receiver. The Alzheimer Society of Calgary will always cash gifts of securities upon receipt, putting your gift to work immediately in the provision of services and programs.

To determine how to make an immediate or future gift of assets as part of your overall financial strategy, please contact a professional financial advisor.

To find out more about the gift acceptance policies of the Alzheimer Society of Calgary, please contact Tracy Neumann, Director of Development, at (403) 290-0110.

Planned Gifts

Planned gifts help to secure the Alzheimer Society of Calgary's future financial viability. Our Planned Giving program recognizes the support of donors who make arrangements for a future gift to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary.

The Alzheimer Society of Calgary accepts the following Planned Gifts:

  • Bequests – A gift in your will may provide tax considerations for your estate and support for the Alzheimer Society of Calgary.

  • Securities – A gift of stock or other marketable securities provides tax advantages to the donor and a benefit to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary. The federal government's change in tax laws may make this an attractive gift for donors. Gifts of securities may be left to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary as a Planned Gift.

  • Life Insurance – A gift of a life insurance policy has the potential to reduce your income tax and make a generous gift to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary. If you are considering this Planned Gift please contact us as there are several options to look at.

  • RRSP and RRIFs – The change in tax laws offers tax considerations to the estate that may make this an attractive gift for donors.

  • Gifts of Property – The Alzheimer Society of Calgary accepts gifts of property with consideration. If this Planned Gift is of interest to you please contact our Fund Development team at (403) 290-0110.
