Everyone knows how to be a friend – this basic principle is easily understood by people of all ages and all cultures. The Best Friends™ Approach encompasses the familiar concept of friendship; the characteristics of a valued friend are also those of a valued care provider.
Founded on the core elements of respect, empathy, support, compassion and humour, the model can be adapted to suit the training needs of individuals across the continuum of care. The Best Friends™ Approach enhances caregiver job satisfaction by encouraging effective person-centred care.
