The Alzheimer Society is the leading voice locally, provincially, nationally and internationally for Canadians living with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.
With approximately half a million Canadians affected by dementia, or one in every 11 over the age of 65, this is more than just an important health concern. In Calgary and surrounding area there are approximately 11,000 persons diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. This disease has the potential to overwhelm the health care system if changes are not made in research funding and care delivery.
Recognizing the need for change, the Alzheimer Society is advocating for governments across the country to make dementia a national health priority.
Already many Canadians have taken up the challenge and become Alzheimer's advocates. People living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, caregivers, friends and families are joining their voices together to become a powerful tool for change, working to create a future without Alzheimer's disease.
You too can make a difference. Let your voice be heard by becoming an Alzheimer's advocate today.
