Your Coffee Can Make a Difference

Host a Coffee Break™ in support of Alzheimer's disease this year!

In addition to raising awareness of the disease and its warning signs, Coffee Break™ also helps to raise funds to support dementia care programs and services in Calgary and surrounding areas.

Each year the Alzheimer Society of Calgary has its largest fundraising event - the Investors Group Thanksgiving Memory Walk and Run. Last year's event raised over $130,000 in support of our programs and services.

If you have a passion for special events we are now recruiting for volunteers for this year's event. There is something for everyone - positions include food distribution, walk and run course captains, registration, volunteer help desk, race marshals and more. Come be part of the fun! Speakers Bureau

Would you like to make a difference in the community by educating groups about Alzheimer's disease? If you like public speaking and have a passion for educating people about our cause, then our Speakers Bureau is for you.We have just revamped our Speakers Bureau presentation and are looking for new volunteers to get out in the community. Five volunteers from the Royal Bank came to the office to help during their Community Week, June 9-13. During this week, RBC employees volunteer at different non-profit organizations in our community.

Heather's Diary

"It was my contact with the Alzheimer Society of Calgary that helped me and my family. It was especially vital in the early years of my Mom's diagnosis when we knew nothing."

Heather is a long distance caregiver to her Mom, and she is documenting her story and the journey her family is on with Alzheimer's disease in an online diary. She updates her diary regularly with thoughtful reflections and caregiving insights.

Caregiving in Calgary - University of Calgary researcher finds looking after elderly relatives worth the time and expense.

"Family Caregivers are huge assets to our Society, especially in light of our aging population," says Alberta Heritage Health Scholar Daniel Lai. Dr.Lai has recently compiled a Caregiving in Calgary study.
